Summary

I really enjoyed discovering some of these new Web 2.0 tools. However, I do think many of them of more time consuming rather than helpful. I have no desire to do Flickr or Mash ups. I did find that the Livebinders and Creative Commons were very useful. I plan on utilizing those in the classroom. I think many of these sites or just new "fad" things, and I do not see how any educator will have enough time to accomplish a quarter of these. Technology is great but not when it takes up more time than necessary. I did enjoy learning about how to blog because I will utilize this when I am teaching.

I will use the Creative Commons in my classroom when doing projects, research, lesson plans, etc. Creative Commons is such a great tool that can credit the original creator yet provide others the ability to use and modify different tools. I would like to have a blog so I can share my lesson and unit plans with other educators. However, I would like to be credited or linked back to my blog so I might receive credit. Creative Commons is a great way to do this yet still be accessible.

I enjoyed using LiveBinders. My titles of my binders are Life Skills k-3, Math K-3, Spelling K-3. I thought these would be a good start to organizing information.
I will use this site to organize resources according to subject area. Also, this would be great to use in the Process areas under Webquest. I could organize different sites, then link it to a binder for the students.

Try our slideshow creator at Animoto.

I thought this was very easy to use. This would be great to use for weddings, showers, etc. Most people take pictures with their iPhones, and upload them to social networking sites. This is such an easy way to make slideshows! Love this!

Grocery Store Outing
This is a video about a father taking his son who has Autism to the grocery store. This really documents many of the sensory issues that come with children who have severe Autism. I plan on using this for a research paper I am working on currently.
YouTube is such a great site to find pretty much anything you need. I always use it to find DIYs.

I am a member of Goodreads, and I really enjoy it. I had to sign up with our Reading 4050 class, and it has been a great way to research good books to read. It has been very enjoyable as well as easy to use.

This is a link to my Facebook page. I have utilized social media as a way to share photos with my family and friends who live out of town. Also, it is easy to keep up with my classmates in regards to school projects, etc. FB has an area where you can upload documents so it is very easy to use when you have a group project.
I plan on having a class Facebook page when I teach. Most parents have smart phones or access to a computer, and I believe it makes for great parental connections and involvement.

I found the site, Delicious, to be interesting. I was able to see many different tags under educational technology. Personally, I use Pinterest as a tagging site. I like it more because I can categorize and follow people easily. I will use Pinterest to research many different educational items when I am in the classroom. There is an education tab to limit the search results, and I have found so many interesting and useful ideas.

I chose iGoogle because I am familiar with Google, and I have a Gmail account. I liked that you could really personalize it, and I follow many different blogs that are powered through Blogger. This makes it very easy to connect and subscribe. I found it to be very easy to use as well.
Online calenders can be useful because you can access them anywhere. Sometimes you can forget your paper planner at home or in the car, and you are out of luck. This way you can access important appointment information through your smart phone, tablet, or computer.
I personally love to-do lists! If I do not write it down, I do not remember it at all. I will be utilizing these!
I plan on personalizing my iGoogle homepage. I like that I can have everything that I think is important in one spot. This is very helpful, and I only have to go to one page to access everything.

I thought Gliffy was genius! I really enjoyed exploring all the different options that can be created. This would be a great tool to use in the classroom with collaborative projects and groups. This really would be a great way to get students to use critical thinking skills since this could provide different forms of visuals to get them going in the right direction.
Bubbl was an interesting tool that was very simple to use. This would be a great tool for students when they are deciding on a topic to research or formulating a paper. This tool can help to organize one's thoughts to provide a clear train of thought.

Zoho is a great app that can be used to create different documents and other tools that might be needed. I found this a little confusing to navigate, and not very fluid. Also, I am reluctant to sign up for everything under the sun.
I found that Google Docs was so simple to use! I liked that I could link everything right to my Gmail account, too. It was very easy to navigate, and it automatically saved everything. I think students will find this very accessible, and they can link it to their email accounts. You can store a lot of information as well.
I prefer Google Docs to Zoho. I found it easier to use, and I liked being able to sign up with my already existing Gmail account.
